Ultrasound

Medical Consultation

POCUS, Point Of Care Ultrasound, is a portable handheld ultrasound device which has
changed the way we practice medicine and treat patients. The POCUS exam is performed in the consultation room by a treating healthcare professional who interprets the ultrasound images immediately. POCUS can be attached to an iPAD screen and used to diagnose a wide variety of conditions including gallstones, fractures, and aortic aneurysms. It can also be used to measure heart function in conditions such as chronic heart failure.

Dr Joe Curran has recently completed POCUS training in the use of our newly purchased Butterfly iQ+ Portable Ultrasound device and hopes to offer this very valuable service to patients in the near future.
