Menopause Specialised Consultations

Dr. Louise Freeman has specialist training in assessing and managing perimenopausal and menopausal women. Some women sail through a problem-free menopause, but most women experience some symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Within a dedicated menopause clinic appointment, Dr. Louise will have adequate time to listen, to support and to educate you on what to expect from these years as well on the effects it may have on you and the treatment options available. The menopause clinic consists of two visits.
At the first visit you will see our practice nurse for the following investigations:
-
Blood Pressure
-
Blood test
-
ECG
-
Urinalysis
-
Height
-
Weight
-
Symptom Questionnaire

The second visit with Dr. Louise entails:
-
Review of the results of the investigations from the first visit.
-
Discussion or treatment options and prescription if required.
-
Assessment of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease risk based on results of tests taken.
-
Discussion of treatment options based on risk assessment.

Fee
-
€200 covers the first two visits only.
-
Extra costs may be incurred if further investigations are deemed necessary, for example insertion of coil/other long-acting contraception, 24-hour blood pressure monitor.
-
Please note that a Medical Card/DVC does not cover the cost of this clinic.
The initial prescription is for three months. We recommend a follow-up visit at three months to assess the efficacy of your medication and for a repeat prescription. Annual follow-up visits are recommended (additional consultation fees will apply).
We will happily see patients of other doctors.
